Bart Vermeulen is Director for Government Relations for ExxonMobil in Europe, a position he has held since January 2022. In this position he leads a team of government relations professionals that works with governments and stakeholders across Europe to support policy development that will enable ExxonMobil to play a leading role in the energy transition.
Prior to this position, Bart was public and government affairs director for Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg and before that global public and government affairs manager at ExxonMobil’s Fuels & Lubricants headquarters in Fairfax, Virginia.
Bart joined ExxonMobil in the European Union office in 1999. Prior to joining ExxonMobil he worked for an international public affairs consulting firm.
Bart is Dutch and has a Master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Groningen in the Netherlands and studied at the University of Minnesota. He is married and has a son and a daughter.
