Jan Bondaruk
Mr Bondaruk is the Deputy Director for Environmental Engineering in the Polish Central Mining Institute. He is in charge of multi-disciplinary teams: material engineering, water protection, environmental monitoring, energy saving, air protection and solid fuels quality assessment departments. He is an expert in environment-, water resource management and low-carbon economy. He deals with the issues of sustainable development of urban and industrial areas, the implementation of eco-innovations and renewable energy systems for industry and public sector and socio-economic studies. Mr Bondaruk carries out a broad spectrum of research and services on various aspects of environmental protection, sustainable management of resources, circular economy, the transition of mining regions and revitalization of post-industrial and post-mining areas. He is an advisor and consultant in the field of development programming, innovation and implementation of investment strategy. In his work, he promotes sustainable development, energy and resource management among local and regional authorities fostering their ability to implement innovative solutions to reduce their water and carbon footprint. He initiates and implements R&D projects that require combining issues from the border of administration, science and industry. Mr Bondaruk carried out and coordinated number of research projects, studies and preparatory works related to development investments supported by national and EU funds. He is intensively involved in the transition and diversification of economy of the regions within Coal Regions in Transition Platform - an initiative of European Commission aimed at long-term mitigation of economic and social consequences of decarbonisation policy in coal regions.
