Laurent Maurin

Head of the Economic Studies Division in the Economics Department, European Investment Bank

Laurent Maurin is Head of the Economic Studies Division in the Economics Department of the European Investment Bank. The Division is mainly responsible for the EIB Investment Report, the EIB Investment Survey, the monitoring of EU economies and the development of research in areas relevant to EIB strategy and the conduit of EIB operations. The economic dimensions of the green transition as well as the transition towards a more intangible and digital European economy are core transversal themes followed by the Division.
Laurent’ research activity focusses on the financing of corporate investment and the digital and green transitions, the analysis of macro-financial conditions, and the evolution of the European financial system. Along these avenues, Laurent has published papers in peer-to-peer reviews, such as the Journal of Financial Services Research, International Finance, International Economics, Macroeconomic Dynamics, Journal of forecasting or the B.E. Journal of Macroeconomics.
Prior to joining the EIB, Laurent held various positions at the European Central Bank in the Directorate General Monetary Policy and in the Directorate General Economic Developments. Before, Laurent worked for two years at Banque de France. Laurent is a former student of Ecole Normale Supérieure de Cachan and holds a PhD in economics from the Université de la Méditerranée in Marseille.
